What you missed at the November meeting

What you missed at the November meeting

We had 4 members at the November meeting, which meant lots of sharing and laughter

We saw gorgeous completed and work in progress quilts

We swapped ornaments

Carrie handed out info on the current challenge for all Modern Quilt Guilds.  Learn more here.

We discussed receiving a call from Ann Gauthier who works at the Medicare office in Providence hospital. The office has naked walls & wondered if our members had some small quilts/wall hangings that she could borrow to hang in the office.  She said the patients relate to quilts well and it might be good exposure for the quilters.  If you have a quilt or two that you’d like to have hung at the Medicare office, please contact Carrie at carrie@believemagic.com and she’ll arrange to get the quilts to Ann for her office.

We thought of ideas for 2012:
- put together fabric bundle to inspire another member to make a quilt
- Theme challenges such as create a quilt based on favorite move or book
- Valentine fabric envelopes/fabric swap for January meeting
- Easter fabric exchange in March
- Sew-in day

What would you like to do with the AMQG in 2012?  We want to hear your ideas.  Post a comment or send us an email.

sew-in tomorrow, and a new fabric store in town

Just a reminder-- we have our February Sew-in tomorrow! Check out this post for more info. It's not too late to decide to join us!

I might be way behind the times here, but I just discovered Quilt Zone, a fabric store that has been open for about 4 months. I did a bit of shopping there this week and was so excited to find that they are carrying some great modern fabric lines! My haul:

Definitely go and check them out-- they're located on Tudor between C Street and Arctic, in the shopping center behind Tokyo Gardens. You can get the details at their website as well.

If you are able, make sure to check out Chroma at Artique and click on Diane's website to be inspired by her photo galleries of modern quilts. She is amazing!
